Anas and Bavleen Kaur hog the limelight on final day in gymnastics
Mohammed Anas (Uttar Pradesh) added a fourth gold to his kitty by nailing the horizontal bars event on the final day of gymnastics competition in the inaugural Khelo India School Games at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here today.
Son of air-conditioning businessman, this Allahabad lad won everyone over with his genial presence. The student of the famed Khelgaon Public School had won the All-Around gold on the opening day, Anas claimed the vault and pommel horse titles on Wednesday. His helpful nature came through when he helped other gymnasts through their routines.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Bavleen Kaur stole the limelight in rhythmic gymnastics with two gold in ribbon and clubs and a bronze in ball to add to the silver she won in the All-Around yesterday. The Jammu girl’s four medal-haul lifted her State to the 19th place on the medal charts with five medals in all.
