Khelo India: PM Modi, Rajyavardhan Rathore and India’s Olympians call to India’s youth

NEW DELHI: The country is gearing up for the first edition of the Khelo India School Games (KISG), an initiative of the sports ministry which encourages mass participation and excellence in sports among youngsters. ALSO READ: Khelo India anthem scores double century, crosses 200 million The sports ministry has released a teaser for the inaugural edition scheduled for 16 venues around the capital from January 31 to February 8, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be seen talking of the importance of sports in a person's development and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore encouraging India's youth to come and participate in the first KISG.

Khelo India School Games: 3298 athletes set to participate

New Delhi: A whopping 3298 athletes, including World Junior Champion shooter Anish Bhanwala and World Youth Weightlifting Championship silver medallist Jeremy Lalrinnunga will take part in the inaugural Khelo India School Games (KISG), beginning from January 31. The Khelo India School Games Organising Committee has received as many as 3298 nominations till now, a release said. Eventually, as many as 4452 athletes and officials from 36 states and Union Territories are expected to feature in 16 disciplines in which competitions will be held.

Star to telecast Khelo India School Games on 3 channels

Star India is gearing up for the first edition of Khelo India School Games, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which is set to begin on January 31. The company plans to telecast the games on three of its channels — Star Sports 1, Star Sports-HD and its free-to-air sports channel, Star Sports First. In addition, the games will be available on its digital platform, Hotstar.
